OAuth

by sintinium

OAuth lets a player sign in to Microsoft, Mojang or Legacy accounts from inside the game, through the multiplayer screen.

FabricForgeClient-side onlyGNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 or laterOpen source1.7.10 – 1.20

What it does

On the multiplayer screen, a new button starts the login flow. The player picks an account type first. Choosing Microsoft opens the default browser so the sign-in happens on the official page, while the Mojang option accepts a username or email and password, following the same steps as the standard launcher. Leaving the password field empty sets an offline username instead, which works only on offline-mode servers or in singleplayer.

Because the login runs inside the running game, a player can switch between accounts without closing Minecraft, and the same button can repair an invalid session. The code is open source under the GNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 or later. Files target 1.7.10 – 1.20 and are published for Fabric and Forge, with the latest Fabric build being 1.0-1.17-fabric for 1.17.1 and the latest Forge build 1.1.15 for 1.20.

Key features

  1. Three account types

Legacy, Mojang and Microsoft accounts can each be used to sign in from the game.

  2. Multiplayer login button

A button on the multiplayer screen opens the login flow and can also refresh a broken session.

  3. Switching accounts in play

Another account can be signed in without restarting the game client.

  4. Offline usernames

Leaving the password field blank lets the player choose any username for offline servers or singleplayer.

Use cases

Who it’s for: Players who need to sign in from inside the game, or who want to play offline under a chosen username, will find the mod useful. Server owners do not need to install it.

Questions

Which loaders does OAuth support?

The mod is published for Fabric and Forge. The latest Fabric file is for 1.17.1 and the latest Forge file is for 1.20.
