Numismatic Archeology

by eman7blue

Numismatic Archeology lets players dig up eight collectable coins hidden in the world, adding an archeology mechanic to Minecraft.

FabricClient and serverMIT LicenseOpen source1.19.4 – 1.20.4

What it does

The mod places eight coins in structures across the world, including desert buried hoards, end temples, bamboo shrines, housing bastions, badlands buried hoards, warm ocean ruins, desert pyramids and villages. Each structure can be excavated with the archeology tools, and the coin found there is added to a collection. The mod is designed for exploration, so searching for the rarer finds becomes part of travelling.

The mod is a Fabric mod for Minecraft 1.20.4, released under the MIT License and open source, with source code and an issue tracker available. Its files cover 1.19.4, 1.20, 1.20.1, 1.20.2 and 1.20.4, and snapshot builds are published as well. Only Fabric is supported, and it runs on the client and on the server, so both need it.

Key features

  1. Eight collectable coins

Bee, Ender, Parrot, Piglin, Rabbit, Sniffer, Turtle and Villager coins are spread across the world for players to find.

  2. Archeology digs

Each coin is tied to a structure type, such as desert pyramids or warm ocean ruins, so players know where to dig.

  3. Trails and Tales structures

Several coin sources are structures added by the Trails and Tales update, which extends the places to explore.

  4. Coin logo

The mod uses a stylized Minecraft font with coins below the name, matching the coin theme of its content.

Even Better Archeology is also open source under the MIT License and works on Fabric for 1.20 – 1.20.2, so it covers an earlier version range than Numismatic Archeology. Magic Teleportation Coin Mod is a Fabric mod for 1.20 – 1.20.4 under the MIT License, but it is not open source and focuses on teleportation instead of digging up coins.
