Vanilla Notebook

by Juniper

A notebook item opens in the GUI, where players can write notes and record coordinates in a vanilla-styled book.

What it does

The notebook is a small addition to the menus, styled to match the vanilla book. Players can jot down coordinates or write free-form notes inside it, and the mod adds a couple of further features on top of that core use.

Vanilla Notebook runs on the client only, so the server does not need it and players can use it on any server. It is published for Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt across 31 release versions, 1.18 – 26.2. Forgified Fabric API, MLEM API and Sinytra Connector are required dependencies, and MLEM API must be installed alongside the mod from version 5.1.0 onward. The code is open source under the MIT License.

Key features

  1. Notebook in the GUI

A notebook is added to the menus as a book that looks like the vanilla one, not a separate screen.

  2. Coordinate notes

Players can record coordinates in the notebook to mark locations they want to return to.

  3. Free-form writing

Notes can be written in the notebook as plain text, for any reminders the player wants to keep.

  4. Extra features

A couple of added features sit alongside the core notebook, extending what the book can hold.
