NoForcedPacks

by merenotnoone

Players who join servers that force a resource pack can turn individual textures off with NoForcedPacks, a Fabric client mod for 1.21.11 – 26.2.

What it does

NoForcedPacks gives back control over a pack that a server pushes on join. Instead of accepting the whole forced pack or removing it outright, the player can switch off only the textures they do not want, and the rest of the pack stays active. The per-texture controls appear inside Minecraft's vanilla Resource Packs menu, so no separate settings screen has to be learned.

Choices made in the menu carry over when the player reconnects to a server or restarts the game. Packs the player installed or built in are left alone, and only server-forced packs are affected. The mod is client-side only, so only the player's game needs it, and nothing has to be installed on the server.

Installation requires Fabric Loader and Fabric API, with the mod file placed in the mods folder. Files are published for Fabric only, across five release versions 1.21.11 – 26.2, and the mod is licensed under All rights reserved, so it is not open source.

Key features

  1. Per-texture toggles

Individual textures inside a server-forced pack can be switched off while the other textures remain in use.

  2. Vanilla menu integration

The controls sit in the Resource Packs screen Minecraft already provides, next to the packs themselves.

  3. Persistent choices

Texture selections are kept across reconnects and game restarts, so they do not need to be set again.

  4. Untouched own packs

Resource packs the player installed or that come built in are not changed, and only server-forced packs are handled.

Use cases

Who it’s for: Players who join servers that force a resource pack and want to keep some of its textures while removing others. Server owners need no change, since the mod does not act on the server.

How it compares

Full comparison

NoForcedPacks is one of several Fabric options for handling resource packs on client. Resource Pack Choice is the closest alternative in function, covering the same core job of blocking a server's forced pack and adding per-texture control. noresourcepack is client-side only, open source under the GNU General Public License v3.0 only, and published for 1.21.11 – 26.3.

Questions

Does NoForcedPacks need to be installed on the server?

No. The mod is client-side only, so only the player's game needs it and the server does not have to run anything.

Which Fabric files are needed to run NoForcedPacks?

Fabric Loader and Fabric API must be installed, and the NoForcedPacks file goes into the mods folder. Files exist for 1.21.11, 26.1, 26.1.1, 26.1.2 and 26.2.

Are the texture choices kept after leaving a server?

Yes. Choices persist across reconnects and game restarts, so a texture switched off stays off the next time the same forced pack loads.
