No See, No Tick
by askaban23
No See, No Tick stops entities far from players from ticking, which can speed up large modpacks on a server.
What it does
Entities that sit beyond a configurable distance from any player stop ticking until a player comes back into range. Server owners can set that distance and keep a blacklist of entities that must always tick. Setup follows the layout of the It Shall Not Tick mod, so settings carry over between the two. Its build for 1.21.1 was released on 2024-08-22 under the MIT License, and it is not open source. It runs on the server alone, so players need nothing extra to join.
Key features
Distance-based ticking
Entities stop ticking once they are farther from every player than the configured distance, and resume when a player moves closer.
Configurable blacklist
Entity types placed on the blacklist keep ticking regardless of distance, so essential mobs and machines are not frozen.
Large modpack gains
The author states up to a fourfold performance increase on large modpacks that have many entities ticking far from players.
Compatibility
Latest build for each game version and loader.
