Nerfed Vexes
by Konhaiii
Nerfed Vexes changes how Vex mobs behave in Minecraft Java Edition, so that they weaken and vanish once their Evoker is gone.
What it does
Vanilla Vexes keep attacking players long after the Evoker that summoned them has been defeated. Nerfed Vexes limits that behavior: a Vex that has moved too far from its summoning Evoker loses its strength and dies, so stray Vexes no longer chase players across the map. The change is a small balance adjustment to Vex behavior and leaves the rest of the game as it is.
The mod is built to stay close to the vanilla experience. It adds no new mobs, no new blocks and no new items, and it does not reshape the rest of Minecraft. Server owners who want a light gameplay tweak without heavily modifying the game can use it, and the changes are simple enough to be compatible with most modpacks. The mod is available for Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt and also ships as a data pack, with files for 1.21.11 – 26.2.
Only the server needs the mod to apply its changes, so players can join without installing anything. The license is Creative Commons Attribution Non Commercial 4.0, and the project is not open source. Files are published for 26.2 in the latest release, dated 2026-07-12, with the first release on 2026-03-01.
Key features
Weaker Vexes away from Evokers
A Vex that drifts too far from the Evoker that summoned it weakens and dies, so the fight has a clear end.
Vanilla-friendly balance
The change adjusts Vex behavior only, keeping the rest of the vanilla mob set and its loot unchanged.
Stray Vexes cleaned up
Vexes left behind after an Evoker is defeated no longer keep attacking players far from the fight.
Lightweight tweak
The mod is a small adjustment rather than a large overhaul, so it fits into an existing world without much change to its setup.
Compatibility
Latest build for each game version and loader.

What the author says
This lightweight mod makes a small balance adjustment to Vex behavior. This prevents stray Vexes from continuing to attack players long after the fight with the Evoker is over.
