NeoPoculus
by Frenk02
NeoPoculus is a NeoForge fork of Oculus for players who want shader packs to render terrain past the server's view distance.
What it does
The mod is an Oculus fork with added features, compatibility fixes and an optimized dedicated level-of-detail renderer. It needs Embeddium, and the client must run it while the server can leave it out. Its Horizon component extends terrain rendering far beyond the server's view distance, and a set of compatibility fixes addresses mod combinations that previously crashed. Compatibility with Little Tiles and general mod support for Sodium-style rendering is listed as supported.
Horizon records explored terrain per world and dimension, and that record is written to disk so the panorama persists between sessions. Everything the client already receives from the server, including chunks held by vanilla servers, Realms and singleplayer worlds, feeds it. Detail falls off with distance, while the five steps nearest the ground stay cheap. A ring around the player renders at full block detail and overlaps loaded chunks on purpose, which hides the edge of the render distance as chunks load.
Shader support differs by path. Distant terrain drawn through a pack's own Distant Horizons program gets that pack's lighting, fog and shadows. Packs without such a program receive it through the ordinary gbuffers terrain path, which shows real block textures instead of a flat cut-out horizon. Testing covered a set of packs, and most of them render shaded distant terrain. Packs named as working with the Distant Horizons program include Bliss, BSL, Complementary Reimagined and Complementary Unbound, while ARTShade, Aurora's Shaders, Kappa, Lux and Better Default work through gbuffers terrain.
Key features
Extended distance terrain
Horizon draws terrain well past the server's view distance and keeps the world going into the distance.
Persistent explored terrain
Explored terrain is written to disk per world and dimension, so the panorama remains between sessions.
Distance-based detail
Level of detail falls away with distance, while the nearest five steps keep their cost low and the closest ring stays at full block resolution.
Classic or voxel engine
A classic heightmap engine is the default and can be switched off with one tick box, while a newer voxel engine for caves, textures and real block shapes sits under Voxel Engine Experimental.
Shader pack integration
Distant terrain takes on the lighting, fog and shadows of packs that include a Distant Horizons program, and falls back to the gbuffers terrain path otherwise.

What the author says
Shaders for NeoForge, with a world that keeps going past your render distance. What this fork adds is Horizon: a built-in extended-distance terrain system, plus a set of compatibility fixes for mods and platforms that previously crashed or rendered nothing.
