Mobs Attempt Parkour

by Barribob

Mobs Attempt Parkour gives certain mobs a simple jumping AI, so they can clear obstacles and gaps on their way.

FabricServer-side onlyCC0 1.0 UniversalOpen source1.16.4 – 1.20.1

What it does

Zombies and other mobs that currently have the jumping ability will hop over blocks and gaps that stand in their path, instead of stopping at the edge. The AI is meant to follow vanilla jumping, so the jumps look close to what players already see from mobs in the game.

The mod runs on the server side only, so players join without installing anything, and the server alone decides how mobs move. It requires Fabric API and Fabric Language Kotlin on Fabric. Files cover 10 release versions, 1.16.4 – 1.20.1, and the latest build, 0.5.2-1.20 for 1.20.1, was published on 2023-12-21. The code is open source under CC0 1.0 Universal, and the source code and issue tracker are public.

Key features

  1. Obstacle jumping

Affected mobs jump over blocks and gaps in their way rather than turning back at the obstacle.

  2. Vanilla-style jumps

The jumping AI is built to resemble vanilla jumping, so movement stays close to how mobs already behave.

  3. Mob selection

Only the mobs that carry the jumping ability are changed, while the rest of the game's mobs keep their default movement.
