MobCapture
by kaamaDE
MobCapture adds a Capturing enchantment that gives a spawn egg for a defeated mob when a sword carries it.
What it does
Capturing is an enchantment for swords. When a mob dies to a player wielding an enchanted sword, the mob may drop its spawn egg. The chance grows with the level of the enchantment, from a base chance at level 1 to higher odds at levels 2 and 3. Boss mobs such as the Ender Dragon, the Wither and the Elder Guardian are excluded, so those fights stay as they are in vanilla.
The drop chance also depends on the mob and the difficulty. Hostile mobs have higher odds than ambient or passive creatures, and easier difficulties raise the odds while harder ones lower them. The final chance is always kept between 0.5% and 20%. The mod is client and server, and it requires Fabric API. Files exist for Fabric only, across nine release versions, 1.21 – 1.21.8, with 0.1.4 for 1.21.8 as the latest file. The code is under the MIT License and is not open source.
Key features
Capturing enchantment
A sword enchantment that turns defeated mobs into a chance at their spawn egg.
Scaled by level
Higher Capturing levels give better drop odds, starting from a base chance at level 1.
Difficulty and mob type
Easier difficulties and hostile mobs raise the odds, while harder difficulties and passive mobs lower them.
Boss mobs excluded
The Ender Dragon, the Wither and the Elder Guardian never drop eggs, so boss fights keep their challenge.

Who it’s for: Players who want spawn eggs for building and mob farms, and server owners who want an enchantment-based way to collect them.
