Mob Dummys

by CapTommy

Mob Dummys replaces selected Minecraft mobs with dummy versions, including a blank dummy and a Wither Skeleton variant, for players who want mobs that look different from the vanilla models.

FabricClient and serverMIT License1.20 – 1.20.4

What it does

The mod swaps some of the game's hostile mobs for dummy versions. The changed mobs keep their behavior but drop the usual arm poses, so they stand with arms at their sides instead of raised. A Wither Skeleton dummy is included, along with a blank dummy that has no mob texture applied.

The mod is a Fabric mod for Minecraft 1.20 – 1.20.4, and only the 1.20.4 build is current. Both the server and every player need it, because the mob models are sent to clients. A gallery in the author text shows how each mob looks after the change.

Mob Dummys is released under the MIT License and is not open source. It has no required dependencies beyond the Fabric loader.

Key features

  1. Dummy hostile mobs

Several vanilla hostile mobs are replaced by dummy versions that keep their normal behavior.

  2. Wither Skeleton dummy

A dummy variant of the Wither Skeleton is included among the changed mobs.

  3. Blank dummy model

A blank dummy version is available, with no mob texture on it.

  4. Arms at rest

Changed mobs do not raise their arms the way standard hostile mobs do, which gives them a different silhouette.

Use cases

Adventure maps

Map makers can use the dummy mobs as scenery or training targets, since they stand with arms down.

Decoration builds

Players building scenes can place the blank dummy as a mannequin-like figure.

Who it’s for: Players who want hostile mobs with a changed look, and server owners who want the same look for everyone on a server. Adventure map creators are also a likely audience.

How it compares

Full comparison

Mob Dummys covers 1.20 – 1.20.4, which is a wider range than either of them.
