MC Classic: Resurrected
by _flipside_
Players who miss the early builds of Minecraft can use MC Classic: Resurrected, a Forge mod for 1.20.1 that brings back alpha and beta style blocks, items, biomes and dimensions.
What it does
The project is a work in progress that aims to recreate the look and feel of the old alpha and beta releases while adding new content. Some of the new blocks can be crafted, and others generate naturally in the world. New items, tools, weapons and foods join them, along with new plants and crops.
Biomes and dimensions are part of the mod, so there are new areas to explore alongside the vanilla ones. A separate achievement tab adds 21 achievements, split into two trees, with the achievements based on classic items and on modern ones from beta Java Minecraft. The mod works on client and server, so the server and every player need it. It is published for Forge only, for 1.20.1, and the code is not open source; the author holds All rights reserved.
The author notes that some features are still unfinished because of limits in MCreator, and that the taking inventory achievement is not working yet. Playing with a classic texture pack such as Programmer Art makes many of the old-style features hard to tell apart from vanilla ones. The mod pairs well with Nostalgia Tweaks for players who want old and new features together.
