MCP Server mod
by cuspymd
MCP Server mod lets AI assistants such as Claude act on a running Minecraft world through structured commands sent over the Model Context Protocol.
What it does
The Fabric mod implements an MCP server that runs a streamable HTTP endpoint on port 8080. Clients that speak the protocol can send requests to it, and an assistant can use those requests to build structures by executing placement commands, scan rectangular block areas to analyze what is there, and read player details such as position, health, food level, experience and inventory.
Commands are available for filling regions, placing single blocks, copying areas, summoning entities, teleporting, handing out items, changing game modes, applying effects, enchanting, setting weather and time, and sending chat messages. Safety limits block destructive actions such as mass entity killing and changes over very large areas. Each result reports block changes, entity spawns and command outcomes, with block positions given as exact x, y and z coordinates.
The mod is client-side only, so a single player or a player joining a server needs it installed, and the server does not. It requires no other mod. Files exist for 1.21.4 – 26.2 across twelve release versions, and the 1.3.0 build targets 26.2. It is released under the CC0 1.0 Universal license and is open source, with public source code and an issue tracker.
Key features
Structure building
Placement commands let an assistant build structures block by block inside the world.
Area scanning
Rectangular areas can be scanned so the assistant can analyze the blocks and structures already present.
Player information
Position, facing direction, health, food level, experience, game state and selected items are reported for each player.
Relative building
A front position three blocks ahead of the player is calculated, so building commands can be placed relative to the player.
Result tracking
Command outcomes return details of block changes and entity spawns, with exact coordinates for each block position.
Compatibility
Latest build for each game version and loader.
