MCNDI

by Rushmead

With MCNDI installed, a player can send the game's own screen out over the network as an NDI video source, and it can be done from any camera in the world.

What it does

MCNDI adds support for NDI, a royalty-free standard for carrying video over Ethernet, to Minecraft. The default output is the main game screen, and each added camera becomes a separate output source that can be named and routed to other software on the network. Presses of R place a camera, and a right click lets the player rename it.

The mod is client-side only, so only the player's own game needs it and servers do not have to install anything. Fabric API is required on Fabric builds, and Architectury API is required on both Forge and Fabric. Files are published for Fabric and Forge for 1.19.3 only, and the code is open source under the GNU General Public License v3.0 only.

Builds for 1.19.3 were released on 2023-01-12, and the latest file was updated on 2023-01-14. The author welcomes pull requests and bug reports through the public source repository.

Key features

  1. Main screen output

The main game screen is sent out as an NDI source by default, without any extra setup.

  2. Extra camera sources

Additional cameras can be placed in the world, and each one becomes its own named NDI output.

  3. Place and rename cameras

Pressing R places a camera, and a right click opens a rename action for it.

  4. Royalty-free NDI transport

Video is carried over Ethernet using the NDI standard, which is royalty-free as the author notes.
