Mansion Redux

by Walls

Mansion Redux overhauls the woodland mansion structure, changing its shapes, layouts and room variety while keeping illagers as the focus.

What it does

The mod replaces the vanilla woodland mansion generation with an overhauled system. Outer walls are generated regardless of the shape or layout of the overall structure, and rooms are composed of multiple pieces, with rules that add block variety. Loot placement follows coded rules, and the base supports stretching down like older jigsaw-based structures used by DnT.

Illagers are the focus of the mansion, and other hostile mobs are removed from spawning in it, so the mansion experience centers on them. The pack also doubles as a technical demonstration of several structure generation techniques, and it is intended to work through datapacks and features rather than code changes.

Mansion Redux must be installed on the server, while players may add it without needing it to join. Files are published for Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt, and as a data pack, for 1.21 – 1.21.10, with 1.3+mod for 1.21.10 as the latest file on each loader.

Key features

  1. Varied mansion shapes

The generation system produces mansions with different shapes and layouts instead of one fixed plan.

  2. Room variety

Rooms are built from multiple pieces, and rules give each room a distinct mix of blocks.

  3. Illager-focused spawning

Other hostile mobs are removed from mansion spawning, so illagers make up the encounters inside.

  4. Coded loot placement

Loot is placed according to coded rules tied to each room's layout.
