Luminous Blocks

by Modvane

Luminous Blocks gives glass blocks and panes a glowing form, and adds a wand that sets how much light each placed block emits.

FabricForgeNeoForgeClient and serverCustom license1.20.1 – 1.21.6

What it does

Luminous Glass is crafted by combining a glass block with a light-emitting ingredient, and Luminous Glass Panes follow the same pattern. Their glow is shown by an icon overlay, which keeps them distinct from normal glass, and placed luminous blocks emit light that the beacon beam effect passes through. Builders use them for underwater structures, ambient lighting and glowing decorative work.

Three light levels are available: low at 5, medium at 10 and high at 15. The Luminosity Wand is made from a stick and one glowstone dust, and a right-click on a Luminous Block changes its level. Crafting is shapeless, so the light level of the result matches the ingredient used. The mod is published for Fabric, Forge and NeoForge across five release versions, 1.20.1 – 1.21.6, and it is installed on the client and the server together. It is released under a custom license and is not open source.

Key features

  1. Glowing glass blocks

Glass blocks and panes are made to emit light, which suits lit walls, floors and underwater builds.

  2. Adjustable light levels

Each placed luminous block can be set to low, medium or high light level with the Luminosity Wand.

  3. Shapeless crafting

Recipes are shapeless, and the light level of the output matches the light-emitting ingredient used.

  4. Icon overlay

An icon overlay marks luminous glass so it can be told apart from normal glass in the inventory and world.
