Lootery

by kohara

Lootery changes the loot that vanilla mobs and structures drop, so Ghasts, Blazes, Shulkers and other mobs give different items in a survival world.

FabricForgeQuiltServer required, client optionalAll rights reserved1.20 – 1.20.4

What it does

Lootery modifies vanilla loot tables through a datapack, rebalancing what certain mobs and structures yield. Ghast Tears drop in larger amounts, Blazes can yield additional Blaze Powder and Glowstone Dust, and Shulkers drop both Shulker Shells instead of one. Drowned drop Prismarine Shards, Husks drop Sand, and Withers drop extra Coal, Soul Sand and Soul Soil.

Because the author aimed to make looting more rewarding, the datapack is meant for worlds where drops feel too sparse. The mod is server required, so the server must run it, while clients may leave it out.

Lootery is published for Fabric, Forge and Quilt, and as a data pack. Its files cover 1.20 – 1.20.4, with v2+mod for 1.20.4 as the latest file. The code is not open source, and the project is released under All rights reserved.

Key features

  1. Ghast Tear drops

Ghasts drop Ghast Tears in larger quantities, where vanilla drops only one.

  2. Blaze drops

Blazes have a chance to drop extra Blaze Powder and Glowstone Dust.

  3. Shulker Shell drops

Shulkers drop both Shulker Shells rather than a single shell that can vanish.

  4. Mob drop rebalance

Drowned, Husks, Withers and Piglins receive new or increased drops such as Prismarine Shards, Sand, Coal and Gold.

Use cases

Scarce-drop survival worlds

Players who find vanilla drops too sparse can use the changed tables to gather more materials from the same mobs.

Structure loot

Buried treasure and shipwreck chests are changed as well, which affects what explorers find in those structures.

Who it’s for: Server owners and players who want vanilla mob and structure drops to be more generous, without adding new mobs or items.

What the author says

Lootery is a datapack which makes various changes to vanilla loot tables in order to either rebalance them, make them more interesting or make them actually worth looting. Or just simply make sense.
