Legacy Resource Pack Adapter
Legacy Resource Pack Adapter restores loading of older resource packs in Minecraft versions newer than the one that dropped them, where packs in the earlier format stopped being recognised.
What it does
Newer versions of the game no longer read resource packs written for the earliest releases. A texture stored at an old path, such as textures/blocks/yellow_wool.png for a yellow wool block, is ignored, and only the newer textures/block/yellow_wool.png path is picked up. This Fabric mod brings back support for those older packs. It is client-side only, so only the client needs it and servers run without it. Builds cover 1.20.1 – 1.21.6, and the latest file is 1.0.0 for 1.21.6. The mod is released under the MIT License but is not open source.
Key features
Old texture paths
Textures stored under the older directory layout are read again, so packs display the blocks their authors intended.
Legacy pack format
Resource packs with a pack format below 4 are accepted, which the game otherwise rejects on newer versions.
Older packs stay usable
Packs from the earlier releases load alongside newer ones without any changes to the pack files.
Compatibility
Latest build for each game version and loader.
Only full game releases are shown. This mod publishes no snapshot builds.
