KeepThatMusic - Updated

by Andriyko69

KeepThatMusic keeps background music playing when the game would normally cut it off, such as during world, server and dimension changes.

What it does

Minecraft stops the current track each time a world loads, a server is joined, or the game is paused and resumed. KeepThatMusic stops that interruption, so a track carries on through a Nether portal trip, a respawn, a reconnect to a singleplayer world, a pause, or a return to the title screen. Rather than cutting the track off, the mod lets it continue without a break.

The mod is a NeoForge port of Keep Music, which was created for Fabric by DarkAndBlue. The concept and original implementation belong to that author. Only the client needs it; a server does not have to run it.

Key features

  1. Uninterrupted music

Background music is not stopped and restarted when Minecraft switches worlds or servers, so the track continues.

  2. Dimension changes

Music carries on across dimension changes, such as passing through a Nether portal.

  3. Respawn and reconnect

The track keeps playing after the player respawns or reconnects to a singleplayer world.

  4. Pause and title screen

Pausing the game and returning to the title screen no longer cuts off the current track.

Use cases

Event music

Background music set during an event keeps playing instead of being replaced by the game's default music changes.

Traveling between dimensions

A player moving through several portals keeps one continuous track across the trip.

Who it’s for: Players on NeoForge 1.21.1 who want background music to continue through loading screens, world changes and pauses. Server owners need not install it, because only the client needs the mod.

Questions

Does KeepThatMusic need to be installed on the server?

No. Players add it to their own game, and a server needs no copy.

Which loader does KeepThatMusic support?

It is published for NeoForge only, for Minecraft 1.21.1, with the 1.0.1 file as the latest release.

Who wrote the original music behavior?

The concept and original implementation belong to DarkAndBlue, whose Fabric mod Keep Music this NeoForge port is based on.
