KeepResourcePackOnProxiedServerSwitch

by kennytv

KeepResourcePackOnProxiedServerSwitch stops a resource reload from running twice when a player moves between proxied servers on Fabric.

FabricClient-side onlyMIT License1.20.2

What it does

Switching to another server behind a proxy used to trigger the resource reload screen twice in some cases. This Fabric mod adds a fix that keeps the resource pack loaded across the switch, so the screen appears once and packs stay active. The fix is a workaround that reloads the resource manager without re-entering the configuration phase, and it skips packs whose hash is already loaded. It is client-side only, so servers need nothing. Files exist for 1.20.2 only, and the code is released under the MIT License, which is not open source.

Key features

  1. Single reload on switch

Moving between proxied servers no longer shows the resource reloading screen a second time.

  2. Packs kept active

The resource pack stays loaded through the server switch rather than being dropped and read again.

  3. Hash-based skipping

Packs whose hash is already loaded are skipped during the reload, avoiding duplicate work.

What the author says

tldr: Instead of seeing the resource reloading screen twice sometimes when switching a proxied server with a network-wide pack, you won't see it at all. 1.20.2 introduced a new protocol phase, being the configuration phase. In it, you can send the client resource packs before they enter the world and also better…
