by happyfied

Icyclo is a world generation datapack that places icicles across cold biomes, and it can be loaded as a datapack or as a mod.

FabricForgeNeoForgeQuiltServer required, client optionalCreative Commons Attribution Non Commercial Share Alike 4.01.21.5 – 1.21.11

What it does

Icyclo places icicles in the cold biomes of a world, so they appear as the player explores snowy terrain. The datapack is the main way the effect is delivered, and it can be combined with other datapacks. A debug mode in the datapack gives icicles a glowing effect and prints debug information to chat, which some owners enable while testing a world.

The mod is published for Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt, and it is also available as a data pack for server platforms. Server owners install it on the server, while players may add it on the client for the full experience. Files cover 1.21.5 – 1.21.11 and the latest build, 1.1+mod for 1.21.11, was released on 2026-01-28. The license is Creative Commons Attribution Non Commercial Share Alike 4.0, so the code is not open source.

Questions

Does Icyclo need to be installed on the client?

No. Server owners install it, and players can join with or without it.

Does Icyclo need another datapack?

Yes. It requires the Grinding Table datapack, which must be installed alongside Icyclo.

Why does the pack not work on some versions?

Icyclo supports 1.21.5 – 1.21.11 only. Check the versions tab for the Minecraft versions it is compatible with.

Why do icicles show missing textures?

Missing textures usually mean a resource pack is not installed. Check that the resource pack needed by the mod is active.
