I Should Eat More

by godluck

I Should Eat More changes how food and hunger work, tying food level and saturation to swords, armor and tiered progression on NeoForge for 1.21.1.

NeoForgeClient and serverMIT LicenseOpen source1.21.1

What it does

The mod removes the vanilla saturation cap and replaces it with a staged food level system, with a food level stage that rises up to a maximum of 10. Food values are read as a continuous scale, and a HUD display shows the current stage. Items tagged as foods in the c:foods tag are the ones that feed into the system.

Swords and armor from the mod grow stronger as the food level rises, and each use draws additional saturation and hunger. Armor comes in five sets, Fat, Muscle, Bone, Arm and Golden Arm, each with helmet, chestplate, leggings and boots. Material tiers follow leather, chain, iron, diamond and netherite. The mod is mainly about number tuning and progression across those five tiers.

The mod requires AppleSkin. Installation is for NeoForge only, and the environment is client and server, so the server and every player need the mod. The code is released under the MIT License and is open source, with source code published.

Key features

  1. Staged food level

Food level advances through stages up to a maximum of 10, with the HUD showing the current stage.

  2. Saturation cap removed

The vanilla saturation cap no longer applies, so saturation can build past its usual limit.

  3. Food-scaled swords

Swords add damage that grows with food level, and each hit consumes hunger and saturation.

  4. Five armor sets

Fat, Muscle, Bone, Arm and Golden Arm sets each include helmet, chestplate, leggings and boots.
