Homabric

by 27rogi

Homabric is a home-management mod for Fabric and Quilt that lets players save locations and teleport back to them through a GUI.

FabricQuiltClient or server, optionalGNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 onlyOpen source1.17.1 – 26.3

What it does

Players set homes that they can return to from a GUI, which also shows home information. Homes can be shared with other players, and a server can cap how many homes each permission group may hold. Home icons can be edited in a GUI that supports modded items, and the server owner can configure whether players' locations are visible to others.

Teleportation can be guarded by a timeout that cancels the trip if the player moves or takes damage, and the timeout length can be set per permission group. Commands can be renamed through aliases in the configuration, and the default aliases include h for home and hs for homes. Admin commands sit behind the homabric permission, and the classic commands can be turned off in the configuration file. Homabric requires Fabric API and Fabric Language Kotlin, and the mod is released under the GNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 only, so it is open source. Either side can run it, and neither needs it.

Key features

  1. Home GUI

A GUI handles home teleportation and shows the details of each saved home, without typing coordinates.

  2. Shared homes

Players can share their homes with others, and permissions limit how many homes each group may create.

  3. Teleport timeout

Teleports can be cancelled when the player moves or takes damage, with timeouts set through permissions.

  4. Command aliases

Command names are set in the configuration, and the bypass permissions let selected players skip the timeout or home limits.

Use cases

Server home management

Server owners can give each permission group its own home limit and teleport timeout, and keep data in one configuration file for easier map migrations.

Who it’s for: Server owners who want homes and teleports managed through permissions, and players on Fabric or Quilt servers that run the mod.

Questions

Does Homabric need Fabric API?

Yes. Fabric API and Fabric Language Kotlin are both required dependencies, so both must be installed next to Homabric.

Do homes survive an update to 2.0.0?

Version 2.0.0 has breaking changes. The players section of the original config must be moved by hand into the new homabric.homes.conf file before the update.

Can a server run Homabric without installing it on players' clients?

Yes. Either side can run it, and neither needs it, so the server can run the mod alone and players do not need it.

What the author says

You can use homabric.teleport.bypass permission to bypass teleport timeout. To disable limits on homes for players give them homabric.limit.bypass permission. You can also specify aliases for commands in config. Currently, default aliases are: - Home Teleportation (_home-command-aliases_): h, home - Home Management…
