What it does

The datapack redesigns how the existing Nether generates, so each biome feels more unique and dangerous without changing the game's core mechanics. Its terrain is taller: the Nether height goes from 128 blocks to 256 blocks, which gives larger landscapes and more room to move. Because the roof stays accessible, roof-based farms and transportation systems keep working. Only new Nether chunks are affected, since existing chunks remain unchanged.

The atmosphere is darker and more oppressive, with the dimension made more visually appealing while the result stays recognizably vanilla. The datapack also adds new blocks, items, mobs and biomes. It is installed as a datapack and is published for Fabric, NeoForge and Quilt for 26.2, with the latest files dated 2026-08-12. Only the server has to run it, while players may skip it. Hellscape - Better Nether is released under All rights reserved and is not open source.
