Forward Lock
by lyuwenhan
Forward Lock lets a player keep sprinting forward without holding any key, after a quick double-tap of the configured forward key while the sprint key is held.
What it does
Once the lock is on, the mod keeps supplying forward input on its own, so the character moves ahead without the forward key being held down. The lock stays active until the configured forward, backward or crouch key is pressed, which turns it off. Sprinting is kept going automatically while the lock is active, and the vanilla food requirement for sprinting still applies, so a hungry character stops sprinting as usual.
The mod works with normal walking, swimming and vehicle controls, and it follows the key bindings set in Minecraft's controls menu rather than fixed keys. Collisions are handled: when the character runs into a wall, sprinting stops and the lock does not keep pushing against it. Forward Lock operates only on the client side and leaves server logic untouched, so the effect stays limited to the player who installed it. It is published for Fabric only, for 26.1.2 and 26.3, with 1.2.0 for 26.3 as the latest file. The code is released under the MIT License and is open source.
Key features
Double-tap activation
Double-tapping the configured forward key in quick succession while the sprint key is held activates the lock.
Release with keys
Pressing the configured forward, backward or crouch key disables the lock, so the player always has a direct way out.
Vanilla food rule kept
Sprinting under the lock still needs enough food, as it does in vanilla, so the mod does not remove that limit.
Wall collision handling
Sprinting stops when the character hits a wall, so the lock does not keep the character pressed against an obstacle.
Compatibility
Latest build for each game version and loader.
Only full game releases are shown. This mod publishes no snapshot builds.
Use cases
Who it’s for: Players on Fabric who want sprinting to continue without holding a key, and who are comfortable keeping the default or configured movement keys bound.
