Felixs OrbitalStrike

by filix.stawinoga.1982

Felixs OrbitalStrike lets server operators turn specially named fishing rods into weapons that call down orbital TNT strikes, wolf packs, teleportation areas and Wither skull barrages.

FabricServer required, client optionalApache License 2.01.21.11 – 26.1

What it does

Felixs OrbitalStrike is a server-side plugin distributed as a Paper plugin, so it runs on the server and not on the player's client. A player who holds one of the specially named fishing rods can cast orbital TNT strikes and summon utility tools through it. Most rods are crafted from a recipe that appears in the recipe book, while a Wither Cannon rod is restricted to operators.

Players obtain rods by crafting or through the rod command, which is available to any player. Some rods are one-use and others are infinite, unbreakable and reusable. Operators control which rods players may craft, give or use, and a player who sees a permissions error when running the command should check whether they have been authorized. The rods spawn large numbers of TNT entities, so the spigot.yml setting for TNT per tick may need to be raised to 10000 or more, and the blasts are throttled and visibly split into groups. Stab Shot's payload deliberately includes hundreds of TNT entities and may cause a brief lag spike.

The plugin was built and tested on Paper 1.21.11 only, and it is published for Fabric. Files cover 1.21.11 and 26.1, and Felixs OrbitalStrike is released under the Apache License 2.0 but is not open source.

Key features

  1. Custom fishing rods

Specially named fishing rods trigger effects such as orbital TNT strikes, wolf packs and teleportation areas when cast.

  2. Wither skull barrage

One rod fires a Wither skull barrage, and the Wither Cannon fires a five-strike sequence reserved for operators.

  3. Recipe book entries

Most rods use a recipe that appears in the recipe book, while restricted rods can only be crafted or used by authorized players.

  4. Command access

The rod command gives any player a rod, subject to permission checks that operators configure.

Orbitalstrike Cannon is open source under the MIT License, covers Fabric 1.21 – 26.3, and is not described here as a server or client mod. Orbital Strike Cannon {OSC} is Fabric-only, covers 1.21 – 26.3 and is server required with client optional, under All rights reserved. orbital-strike+ is server-side only on Fabric 1.16 – 26.2, also under All rights reserved, so the two differ in version range and in their licenses.

Questions

Does Felixs OrbitalStrike need to be installed on the client?

No. The server must run it, while players may leave it out.

Why does a rod command return a permissions error?

Some rods are restricted to authorized players. The permissions error appears when the player has not been authorized for that command.

What should be changed if strikes cause lag?

Raise the TNT-per-tick limit in spigot.yml to 10000 or more, since large rods spawn many TNT entities and the blasts may be throttled.
