Farla's Hotbar Optimizer

by Farlapata

Farla's Hotbar Optimizer is a Fabric client mod that changes how hotbar slot switches are synchronized with the server.

FabricClient-side onlyMIT License26.1.2

What it does

Without this mod, the client holds back a hotbar slot change for as long as 50 ms, roughly one game tick, before it reports the change to the server. Farla's Hotbar Optimizer sends slot changes earlier, so the server registers a held item sooner. According to the author, this reduces delayed item recognition and ghost totem situations, and it gives quick swaps and utility items a more consistent feel, especially at higher ping.

Farla's Hotbar Optimizer carries on the work of Dokko's Hotbar Optimizer for 26.1.2, with reworked runtime management, a safe mode that adjusts itself, and a light sync routine for the hotbar. It is client-side only, so the server does not need it, and it is published for Fabric alone. Files exist only for 26.1.2, with 1.0.1 as the latest file, released under the MIT License. The mod is not open source.

Key features

  1. Earlier slot synchronization

Slot changes reach the server before the vanilla delay, which shortens the gap in which a switched item is not yet recognized.

  2. Ghost totem reduction

According to the author, the timing change reduces situations where a totem appears to be in the offhand but is not registered by the server.

  3. Faster item swapping

Quick swaps between hotbar slots and utility items respond sooner, which the author describes as smoother in combat.

  4. Adaptive safe mode

A safe mode adjusts runtime handling of the synchronization, so the optimization stays lightweight during play.
