FallFlyingRestrictions

by ShiroJR

FallFlyingRestrictions changes how Elytra flight behaves, adding limits on take-off, altitude, inventory access and eating while a player is gliding.

FabricClient and serverMIT LicenseOpen source1.18.1 – 1.21.1

What it does

Changes the default FallFlying movement used with Elytras and similar items. Players who are gliding face extra handling difficulty in bad weather, and flying too high makes control harder still. While in the FallFlying state, a player cannot open the inventory or eat food.

Restrictions are defined as zones. A zone can stop players from taking off, stop them from flying through it, or both. Zone properties are set globally in the config file, and a local zone overrides those global values. Additional conditions for the GUI warning are adjusted in the same config file, and Cloth Config is needed to edit them in-game.

Installation needs only Fabric; the mod is published for Fabric alone, with files covering 1.18.1 – 1.21.1. The code is under the MIT License, and the source is public.

Key features

  1. Altered Elytra movement

Replaces the default FallFlying movement used with Elytras and similar items with a stricter model.

  2. Weather and altitude penalties

Bad weather and high altitude make gliding harder to control, adding risk to long flights.

  3. Gliding action limits

While gliding, players cannot open the inventory or eat food, so they must land first.

  4. Zone-based restrictions

Zones can block take-off, block flight through the area, or both, with global defaults and local overrides.

Use cases

Hardcore and challenge servers

Server owners who want flight to carry more risk can set zones that stop take-off in chosen areas.

Adventure maps

Map makers can mark regions where Elytra flight is not allowed, shaping routes through their world.

Who it’s for: Server owners and modpack authors who want to limit Elytra flight. The mod needs Fabric on both the server and the client, and players who join a server running it must also have it installed.
