Durability Warning

by Rene_P8

Durability Warning alerts a player on screen when a held tool, armor piece or Elytra is about to break, using a flashing red border and a text message.

FabricClient-side onlyAll rights reserved1.21.11 – 26.2

What it does

Once an equipped item's durability falls under 10 percent of its maximum, the mod sends a warning, giving the player time to swap in a spare tool or send gear to repair before it is destroyed. Tools in the main hand, armor and the Elytra while flying are all tracked. The warning shows as a blinking red border around the screen together with an on-screen text notice that the item needs attention.

Installation requires only Fabric. The mod runs on the client alone, so a single-player world or a multiplayer client can use it without any server-side install. Files are published for Fabric across three release versions, 1.21.11, 26.1.2 and 26.2, under All rights reserved, and the code is not open source. The latest file, 1.2.0, targets 26.2 and was released on 2026-08-20.

Key features

  1. Visual warning system

A prominent red border flashes around the screen when an item's durability is critically low, so the warning is hard to miss.

  2. Tool monitoring

Durability of the tool held in the main hand is tracked continuously and compared against the warning threshold.

  3. Elytra monitoring

The condition of the Elytra is watched during flight, so a wing close to breaking is flagged before it fails.

  4. Configurable border and message

The blinking red border and the on-screen text message can each be switched on or off in the mod's options.

Questions

Does Durability Warning need Fabric API?

Files are published for Fabric. Durability Warning requires no other mod to be listed as a dependency.

Does Durability Warning have to be installed on the server?

No. Players add it to their own game, and a server needs no copy.

Can the blinking border be turned off?

Yes. The border and the on-screen text message are both configurable options, so each can be toggled independently.

What the author says

A Fabric mod that warns you when your active tool or Elytra are about to break. The mod continuously monitors your equipped items and triggers warnings when durability drops below 10% of maximum. This gives you enough time to switch to a backup item or repair your gear before it breaks completely.
