Drown Panic

by kulmustafa47

Drown Panic is a client-side mod that changes how running out of air feels underwater, with a narrowing screen vignette, a heartbeat soundtrack and heavier tension during drowning.

FabricForgeNeoForgeClient-side onlyMIT License1.21.1

What it does

When the air supply runs low, the screen closes in with a wide vignette that narrows the field of view, creating a tunnel vision effect. Its purpose is to heighten suspense while the player explores the seabed and sunken structures, and the effect grows stronger as the breath runs out.

Realistic heartbeat sounds play as the player drowns, with a pounding audio cue that signals urgency. Only the client needs the mod, so it works on vanilla servers without any server-side installation. Drown Panic requires Fabric API on Fabric, and it is published for Fabric, Forge and NeoForge, with files for 1.21.1. It is released under the MIT License and is not open source.

Key features

  1. Tunnel vision vignette

A wide screen vignette closes the field of view as the air supply runs out, adding tension to underwater exploration.

  2. Realistic heartbeat sounds

A pounding heartbeat audio layer is triggered by drowning, giving the player a clear sense of urgency.

  3. Underwater atmosphere

The visual and audio effects are concentrated on the moments of drowning, leaving the rest of the underwater experience unchanged.

Who it’s for: Players who want a more intense survival experience underwater, on vanilla or modded servers, without asking the server owner to install anything.

No. Only the player's game needs it, and servers run without it.
