Dragon Mounts Datapack

by Anas099

Dragon Mounts Datapack lets players hatch a dragon from an egg, raise it and ride it, using vanilla items found in the End and crafted in the world.

FabricForgeNeoForgeQuiltServer required, client optionalAll rights reserved1.19 – 1.21.8

What it does

Players obtain a dragon egg by defeating the Ender Dragon or by finding one in End City chests, then craft a hatchable egg using an Eye of Ender and an Echo Shard. Placing the crafted egg starts the hatching process, and the egg's surroundings decide which of five dragon types emerges.

Once hatched, the dragon grows over time under the player's care and can eventually be ridden. The datapack is a set of data files rather than a Java mod, so it runs with the Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt loaders without any library mod. The server needs it, while players may add it for the pet features.

The pack is published for 1.19 – 1.21.8 across 11 release versions, with 3.1+mod for 1.21.8 as the latest file. The code is not open source; it is released under All rights reserved.

Key features

  1. Five dragon types

The egg produces one of five pet dragon types, and the biome where the egg is placed determines which one hatches.

  2. Hatching from placed eggs

A crafted egg hatches once placed in the world, after which the dragon begins its growth.

  3. Rideable dragons

A fully grown dragon can be ridden by the player who raised it.

  4. Reachable egg sources

The dragon egg can be taken from the Ender Dragon or from End City chests, so the start is part of the end-game route.

Who it’s for: Server owners who want a dragon pet and mount option for survival worlds, and players who reach the End and want a reason to keep the egg they find.
