DogDog
by EdDYON
DogDog gives wolves in Minecraft distinct personalities, a bond system that grows through interaction, and survival mechanics that keep a tamed dog alive longer.
What it does
Players build a dog's Affinity by interacting with it while empty-handed. At 100 Affinity the bond opens Soul Bond, which enables personality-specific abilities. Sneaking and right-clicking with an empty hand switches between Home and Patrol, which covers a 32-block radius, and the follow modes are also available. The mod overhauls the vanilla wolf AI, so tamed dogs act as companions with their own traits.
When a dog takes fatal damage it enters a 60-second Critical State rather than dying at once. A Golden Apple saves it permanently, and a dog that does not recover is remembered as a Stone Statue memorial. Featured personalities can be assigned by crafting a Golden Bone, which rerolls a dog's personality. Brave Heart lets a dog ignore the usual flight from monsters and, at max Affinity, override fear, teleport and block a fatal blow with a Totem effect on a 5-minute cooldown at its own health cost.
The mod is published for NeoForge only, for 1.21.1, and it runs on client and server, so the server and every player need it. It is released under the MIT License and is not open source.
Key features
Personality and Affinity
Each dog has a personality, and interacting with it empty-handed raises Affinity toward Soul Bond.
Command modes
Sneak with an empty hand and right-click to toggle between Home and Patrol, with a 32-block radius and follow modes.
Critical State
Fatal damage starts a 60-second window; a Golden Apple makes the save permanent, and otherwise a Stone Statue marks the dog.
Treasure Hunter
Throwing a Golden Bone starts a heist: dogs that enter portals reach raid structures like villages, mansions and the Nether for high-tier loot, though failure brings angry pursuers.
Compatibility
Latest build for each game version and loader.
