Dimensional Structure Restrict

by Quality of Life Modding

Dimensional Structure Restrict limits which structures can generate in which dimensions, using whitelist and blacklist rules set in a JSON config file.

ForgeNeoForgeServer-side onlyMIT LicenseOpen source1.20.1 – 1.21.1

What it does

The mod lets a server owner or pack developer decide where structures may spawn, by setting rules per structure or per dimension. Rules are read from a config file that is created with example entries on first launch, and missing keys are regenerated automatically. Comments in the JSON are supported, so a config can be documented in place.

Each rule is either a whitelist or a blacklist entry that targets structure or dimension IDs. A flag can also be set so that a structure is placed only where it believes it was placed, which helps world designers keep generation predictable. Rule enforcement is written to the log with the structure and dimension involved, which simplifies debugging.

The mod is server-side only, so players join without installing it, and it is published for Forge and NeoForge with files for 1.20.1 and 1.21.1. The code is open source under the MIT License. Initial release targeted 1.20.1, and the 1.21.1 build followed later.

Key features

  1. Structure rules

Structure-specific rules allow or prevent a given structure from generating in chosen dimensions.

  2. Dimension rules

Dimension-based restrictions control which structures may appear in a given dimension as a whole.

  3. Whitelist and blacklist

Entries can be written as whitelist or blacklist rules, matching structure or dimension IDs.

  4. JSON configuration

Rules are stored in a JSON file with comment support, and missing keys are regenerated automatically.

  5. Enforcement logging

Each rule enforcement is logged with the structure and dimension context to help track down problems.
