Digga's Nextbots

by Zcoper

Digga's Nextbots adds hostile Nextbot mobs to Minecraft's overworld, each with its own look, sounds and behavior, and requires Geckolib to run.

ForgeClient and serverAll rights reserved1.19.2 – 1.20.1

What it does

Nextbots spawn in the overworld as several variants, including Obunga, Selene, Delgado, Lopez, Sanic and Wise, along with a Mystical Tree and others. They are modeled as 2D PNG textures with strange sounds and a fast, aggressive pace. A player within about 50 blocks can be tracked down immediately, and some variants such as Obunga watch from much farther away. Several of them are already hunting before the player notices.

Spawning follows the usual monster rules, but some Nextbots appear only above or below certain Y levels, and most stay out of dimensions other than the overworld. The gamerule doNextbotSpawn turns natural spawning off or back on, and mobGriefing set to false stops them from breaking blocks. The mod is created with MCreator and offers features that are available across versions, though 1.19.2 lacks shields, structure generation and custom villagers that 1.20.1 includes. Geckolib is required, and the server and every player need the mod, since it runs on client and server.

Key features

  1. Several Nextbot variants

Obunga, Selene, Delgado, Lopez, Sanic and Wise each have distinct looks, sounds and speeds.

  2. Player tracking

A Nextbot within about 50 blocks locks on and pursues through walls, and some track from much farther.

  3. Fast, narrow-passage movement

Nextbots move quickly, fit through small hallways and can kill a player in one hit.

  4. Adjustable block breaking and spawning

The mobGriefing and doNextbotSpawn gamerules control whether Nextbots break blocks and spawn naturally.

  5. Custom texture support

Their textures and sounds can be replaced through a resource pack, and new Nextbots can be built from the same setup.

Who it’s for: Players who want hostile, fast chasing mobs in the overworld, and server owners who want control over when those mobs appear.

Questions

Does Digga's Nextbots need Geckolib?

Yes. Geckolib is a required dependency and must be installed next to Digga's Nextbots for the mod to load.

Do players and the server both need the mod?

Yes. The server and every player need the mod installed.

Can Nextbots destroy blocks in a world?

Block breaking is controlled by the mobGriefing gamerule. Setting it to false stops Nextbots from breaking blocks.

Which Minecraft versions are supported?

Forge files exist for 1.19.2, 1.19.4 and 1.20.1, with 1.0.0 for 1.20.1 as the latest release.

What the author says

The Digga's Nextbots mod adds new creatures called Nextbots! These 2D PNG creatures are from the game Garry's Mod and will hunt the player. Despite their funny looks and strange noises, these creatures should not be underestimated. Nextbots are very fast, dangerous and almost invincible. They can track you down…
