Defile: Best By
Defile: Best By makes funeral ink from Defile wear away over time, so players must use it before it fades.
What it does
Funeral ink created by the Defile mod expires on its own. Items that carry the ink slowly disappear as game time passes, and a player who leaves the ink untouched will lose it. The default random tick speed of 3 means the average funeral ink lasts roughly 5 minutes. Rain speeds up the decay while the black rain is active. The mod is a server-side only addition for Fabric, built for Minecraft 1.20.1, and it needs Defile to run. The code is MIT licensed and open source.
Key features
Timed expiration
Funeral ink disappears gradually instead of lasting until a player removes it.
Random tick based decay
Expiration follows the random tick speed, so raising that setting makes the ink fade faster.
Faster decay in rain
While black rain is active, funeral ink expires sooner than it would in clear weather.
