Decent Freelook
by BloodRed
Decent Freelook lets a player rotate the camera around the character through a full 360-degree sphere while the body keeps facing its direction.
What it does
A freelook key, set to F6 by default, enables the orbiting camera in either a hold or a toggle style, so a player can pick the behavior that suits them. Pressing the vanilla perspective toggle while freelook is active deactivates it safely, and the view returns to the original perspective when freelook ends.
The mod is aimed at players who want to look around their character during fights, building or exploration without moving it. Its author notes that the design keeps the impact on performance small. It needs Fabric API on the Fabric loader and is client-side only, so servers do not need it. Decent Freelook is open source under the CC0 1.0 Universal license, with source code published, and files cover 1.21.11 – 26.3 with 1.3+26.3 as the latest for 26.3.
Key features
True orbiting camera
The camera circles the character on a full 360-degree sphere instead of a fixed offset.
Dual-mode activation
Freelook can be held down or toggled, depending on the player's preference.
Perspective memory
The original view is restored automatically when freelook ends.
Configurable freelook key
The freelook key defaults to F6 and can be rebound in the controls menu.
Safe deactivation
Pressing the vanilla perspective toggle while freelook is active turns freelook off without leaving the camera in a broken state.

Use cases
Combat awareness
Players can watch behind or beside their character during a fight without turning the body.
Building and inspection
Walls, roofs and structures can be checked from any angle while the character stays in place.
Who it’s for: Players on Fabric who want an orbiting camera in single-player or on multiplayer servers. Because the mod is client-side only, server owners do not need to install it.
