DAMAGE = OP LOOT
by VINAY_VERSE
With DAMAGE = OP LOOT installed, a player who takes damage on purpose receives random high-tier items as a reward.
What it does
Each time a player takes damage, the mod drops a random high-tier item near that player. Damage from falls, mob attacks, fire, explosions and projectiles all trigger a drop, so the reward comes from ordinary hazards as well as deliberate ones. The design turns getting hurt into a way to gain gear, the opposite of the usual weakening effect.
The reward pool includes golden apples, armor made of netherite, diamonds, totems and ender pearls. Feedback appears in the action bar, along with particle bursts when an item drops. It suits chaotic survival worlds, challenge videos and multiplayer games where a group wants unpredictable rewards.
DAMAGE = OP LOOT is published for Forge only, for Minecraft 1.21.5, and it is Client and server, so both the server and every player need it. The license is All rights reserved, which means the code is not open source. Version 1.1 for 1.21.5 was released on 2026-03-29.
Key features
Loot on damage
Every instance of damage a player takes can produce a random high-tier item dropped right beside them.
Varied damage sources
Fall damage, mob attacks, fire, explosions and projectiles all count, so the drops are not limited to one hazard.
Action bar messages
Messages in the action bar report the reward, and particle bursts mark each drop in the world.
Rare reward pool
The pool holds golden apples, netherite armor, diamonds, totems and ender pearls.
Compatibility
Latest build for each game version and loader.
Only full game releases are shown. This mod publishes no snapshot builds.
Use cases
Challenge runs
Players can set up a run where taking damage is part of the plan, and track the loot gained along the way.
Chaotic multiplayer
A group on a shared server can take turns risking damage to see which drops each player collects.
Who it’s for: Players who want a survival mod built around risk, and server owners who run unpredictable multiplayer games.
How it compares
TNT: Reforged is a Forge mod for 1.20.1 that is also Client and server, and it is not open source. Damage Numbers covers Fabric, Forge and NeoForge for 1.19.4 – 1.21.1 and is Client-side only, so it changes nothing on the server. ABM (ActionBar Maker) is open source under the MIT License for 1.20.1 and is Client and server. Unlike these, DAMAGE = OP LOOT pays out loot for taking damage.
