CrossStitch
by astei
With CrossStitch installed on a Fabric server, Velocity proxy players can join while the server keeps custom Brigadier argument types working.
What it does
CrossStitch is an open source Fabric mod by astei, released under the MIT License, that improves compatibility between Minecraft servers and Velocity proxies. Its main purpose is to let custom Brigadier argument types and argument serializers reach players who connect through a proxy, a case that traditional Minecraft proxies often break.
The mod is server-side only, so only the server needs it and players join without installing anything. It requires Fabric API on the server, and the server itself must run Fabric. Velocity is the proxy the mod supports, and it has no effect on other proxies.
Files cover 1.16 – 1.21.8 across 32 release versions, with 0.1.7 for 1.21.8 as the latest Fabric file, published on 2025-08-09. The mod was first published on 2021-06-22 and is required by Proxy Command and Fresh Proxy Command.
Key features
Custom argument types
Lets custom Brigadier argument types work when a server sits behind a Velocity proxy.
Argument serializers
Makes argument serializers that were previously unavailable through a proxy usable on the server.
Velocity connection
Players connect through Velocity, and the server must be reached only through the proxy once CrossStitch is active.
Proxy compatibility fixes
Addresses conflicts between recent Minecraft changes and traditional proxies, which the author notes Mojang's growing mod opportunities made more frequent.

Use cases
Velocity networks
Server owners running Velocity in front of one or more Fabric servers can keep custom commands working for players who join through the proxy.
Who it’s for: Server owners who run Fabric servers behind a Velocity proxy and need custom command arguments to work through it. Mod developers who rely on argument types or serializers will also find the mod useful.

This mod is supported by the Velocity team and is developed against Velocity and Fabric, but the principles used are intended to be generic enough to apply to any Minecraft proxy and to any Minecraft modding…
