CloudChatMC
CloudChatMC lets friends talk across different Minecraft servers, worlds and singleplayer sessions through a free Cloudflare Worker backend, with a Fabric client mod on each player's side.
What it does
Chat works through a private persistent tunnel. Players log in with a unique token, and the client connects to a Cloudflare Worker that relays global chat, direct messages and online status between connected friends. Messages are encoded before they are sent, and a connection that drops reconnects on its own. Messages that arrive while the game is still loading are queued instead of lost.
The mod is client-side only, so servers do not need to install anything, and it works the same whether a player is on a plugin-less server, a different world or a single-player game. Friends can see who is connected with a status command, and the token server URL can be changed in-game without a restart. Fabric API is required. The backend runs on Cloudflare Workers with Durable Objects on the free tier, so a small friend group can host its own relay at no cost, though setup needs some maintenance. Builds are published for Fabric only, for 1.21.4 – 1.21.11, and the code is open source under the GNU General Public License v3.0 only.

How it compares
Just A Chat Mod is a Fabric client mod under the MIT License, with files for 1.21 – 1.21.5, and it is also client-side only. aPrivateMessages is server-side only, uses All rights reserved, and targets 1.21.4 alone, so players must rely on the server to run it. EasyReconnect is client-side only under the MIT License for 1.21.1 – 1.21.11, but it reconnects dropped sessions rather than providing chat.
