CivVoxelMap

by Netherwart

CivVoxelMap is a Fabric fork of VoxelMap Updated, adapted for the CivMC server with fairplay options that limit what the minimap shows.

FabricClient-side onlyGNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 onlyOpen source1.21.8 – 1.21.11

What it does

The mod is a fork of VoxelMap Updated, made for players on the CivMC server. Its fairplay options set which information the minimap displays, and several are switched off by default: Cave Mode outside the Nether, Show Entity Elevation and Hide Sneaking Players. A tooltip warns that some of these features are not allowed on that server. Entities on the radar are sorted by priority, with players first, then hostile mobs, then other entities.

CivVoxelMap runs only on the client, so players install it themselves and servers need nothing. Source code and an issue tracker are public, and the code is released under the GNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 only, so it is open source. Files target 1.21.8 and 1.21.11, with the 1.16.6-A+1.21.11 build for 1.21.11 as the latest. The first version appeared on 2026-02-07 and the last update is dated 2026-04-04.

Key features

  1. Fairplay display options

Cave Mode outside the Nether, Show Entity Elevation and Hide Sneaking Players are options that can be toggled, all disabled by default.

  2. Entity radar priority

Nearby entities are ordered on the radar by type, with players listed before hostiles and other entities.

  3. Tooltip warning

A tooltip on the affected settings states that the feature is not permitted on CivMC.

  4. Command argument fix

Errors that VoxelMap commands produced with signed command arguments are corrected in this fork.

Use cases

Playing on CivMC

Players on the CivMC server can run the minimap with the fairplay settings that the server expects.

Who it’s for: Players who join CivMC and want a VoxelMap build adjusted for that server's rules. The mod is not needed on other servers or in single-player unless a player wants these options.

Questions

Does CivVoxelMap need to be installed on the server?

No. Only the player's game needs it, and servers run without it.

Which loader does CivVoxelMap use?

It is published for Fabric only, with builds for 1.21.8 and 1.21.11.

Are the fairplay options enabled by default?

No. Cave Mode outside the Nether, Show Entity Elevation and Hide Sneaking Players are all disabled by default.
