CIT Reborn
by ponuing
CIT Reborn is a Fabric and Quilt mod that runs only on the client and brings OptiFine's Custom Item Textures format to those loaders, letting resource packs alter how items look.
What it does
Resource packs written for OptiFine's Custom Item Textures (CIT) format can be loaded through CIT Reborn, which brings that support to Fabric and Quilt without OptiFine. Which textures and models appear depends on conditions like an item's custom name, anvil or durability level, stack size, certain enchantments, and hidden NBT tags or newer data components.
The mod covers item, armor and elytra types, enchantment overlays, and texture blending, speed, rotation, layer and duration settings. Item matching uses items and matchItems rules, and damage, stackSize and enchantment IDs and levels can select which model is shown. Because it changes only what is drawn on the client, it has no effect on server-side play. The mod depends on Fabric API and is released under the MIT License as open source for 1.21.4 only, with the 0.6.0 beta file on both loaders.

Use cases
Resource pack authors
Pack makers can write CIT rules that change how items, armor and elytra look in-game.
Players moving from OptiFine
Players who want CIT packs on Fabric or Quilt can load them without installing OptiFine.
Who it’s for: Resource pack creators and players who use CIT-based packs on Fabric or Quilt. Only the client needs the mod, so servers run without it.
