CampfireOverhaul+ turns the campfire into a cooking, smelting and light source that players can fuel by throwing items into it, and it works without a crafting bench nearby.
What it does
Campfires in this mod accept fuel thrown onto them with the Q key, including vanilla fuels and most modded fuels, and a thrown lava bucket also works, returning an empty bucket. Fuel items burn for the same time they would in a furnace, and a configurable multiplier can make fuel last longer or shorter. Right-clicking with empty hands reports the seconds of fuel remaining.
The mod adds a soul campfire recipe, a four-slot smoker, and recipes that turn logs into charcoal, build torches from sticks, dry out wet sponges and fire clay into bricks. Holding flint in the main hand or offhand, with F to swap, lets players start fires. Dragon's Breath can make a campfire burn forever, soul campfires last indefinitely by default, and campfires in villages generate with infinite fuel. Burnout behavior is configurable, and a campfire breaks completely when removed, dropping its items.
It is released under the MIT License and is open source. Its source code and issue tracker are public, and it is published for Forge on 1.20.1 – 1.20.6, with 2.0.0 for 1.20.6 as the latest file. Servers that run it need every player to install it too.

Holding flint in the main hand or offhand lets players light fires, with F swapping between hands.
Special campfire mechanics
Dragon's Breath can make a campfire burn forever, and right-clicking with empty hands shows the fuel left.
