by huntersxy

With Entity Freezer & Limit breeding, a block-entity device can freeze creatures inside a designated area, and the mod also caps how many mobs may gather in a chunk.

What it does

Entity Freezer & Limit breeding adds a block-entity freeze device that holds creatures within a designated area, a 7x7 region under redstone control. A charged entity is frozen, and once the charge is cancelled the entity becomes free to move again. The device monitors entities in an 8x8x8 box centred on its own location, with the default radius set to 8 in the configuration file.

The second part limits population. When the number of mobs inside the monitored area exceeds the configured maxMobsInChunk value, further spawning is cancelled, which helps prevent overpopulation in specific areas. Control over reproduction is set in the same config, so server owners can tune how crowded a region may become.

The mod is open source under the MIT License and is published for Forge and NeoForge. Forge has version 1.0.7 for 1.20.1, released 2025-12-30, and NeoForge has 1.2.1-alpha.8e7483f+26.2 for 26.2 on the alpha channel. Game versions covered are 1.20.1, 1.21.1, 1.21.11, 26.1, 26.1.2 and 26.2, and the mod runs on client and server.

Key features

  1. Freeze device block

A block-entity device holds creatures within a 7x7 area and is controlled with redstone.

  2. Charge-based freezing

A charged entity is frozen, and cancelling the charge returns it to normal movement.

  3. Area monitoring

The device watches an 8x8x8 box centred on its location, counting the mobs inside it.

  4. Spawn limit per chunk

Spawning is cancelled when mob count in the area passes the maxMobsInChunk value set in the config.
