Block Express

by Erdmen

Block Express lets a player turn a crafted Station Builder block into a fixed station, then link stations with railways so travel between bases is fast.

ForgeNeoForgeClient and serverAll rights reserved1.20.1 – 1.21.1

What it does

A player first crafts a Station Builder block, then places it at a location to create a station. Placing a second Station Builder block on the railway between two stations establishes a connection, and stations can be linked into routes joining more than two stations. Each Station Builder block connects to the previous station only at the same Y coordinate and at different X and Z coordinates, with at least 20 blocks between them.

Connecting stations can damage some of the old tracks depending on the direction of the route, and those sections must be repaired by hand. To disconnect old stations and start a new network from scratch, a player must craft a Station Builder block again, and crafting one resets the connection of the old station network. Players should therefore craft enough blocks before creating the first station, and craft one at the height where a new network should begin.

Block Express runs on Forge and NeoForge, with files for 1.20.1 and 1.21.1. Its environment is client and server, so the server and every player need the mod, and the code is not open source, as it is released under All rights reserved.

Key features

  1. Automatic station connections

Stations link to each other automatically once a Station Builder block is placed on the railway between them.

  2. Multi-station routes

Routes can join more than two stations, so one network can cover several bases.

  3. Coordinate rules

A new station must share the Y coordinate of the previous station and be at least 20 blocks away on X and Z.

  4. Network reset by crafting

Crafting a new Station Builder block resets the connections of the old network, which allows a fresh layout from a chosen height.

Questions

Which loaders does Block Express support?

Block Express is published for Forge and NeoForge. Its files cover 1.20.1 and 1.21.1, with 1.1.0 as the latest file for each loader.

Does the server need Block Express?

Yes. Every player and the server need a copy of the mod.

Why does a Station Builder block have to be crafted again?

Stations are tied to the Station Builder block used to create them. Crafting a new block resets the connections of the old network, so a new network must start from a fresh block.

To create your station; first, craft the Station Builder block. When you place this block, a station will be created at that location. If you place this block a second time, a railway will be established between the first and second stations, allowing for fast travel between your bases. You can also create connecting…
