Blight

by AsterXE

Blight is a decor mod for Fabric and Forge that adds industrial, decayed-looking blocks themed on rot and corruption, and it is still a work in progress.

FabricForgeClient and serverMIT License1.20.1

What it does

Blight adds decorative blocks to Minecraft 1.20.1 in an industrial, decaying style, with mesh blocks, stairs, flooring, grate-like blocks and black lanterns. Its design draws on the Befoul mod, and the theme centers on a world where forgotten lands slowly rot and corrupt over time. The blocks are meant to decorate abandoned factories, ruins and similar scenes.

New materials such as Blackened Iron are needed to craft the newly added blocks. Blackened Iron comes from smelting iron in a blast furnace, and it is the base material for most of the blocks added by Blight. Burnt Grass is a grass-type block that appears after a fire is put out on a grass block. The mod was rebuilt from scratch with manual scripting after an earlier MCreator version, and the author expects some bugs because the project is still in progress.

Blight runs on both the client and the server, so the server and every player need it. Files are published for Fabric and Forge for 1.20.1, and the latest build for each loader is 0.1.1, released 2026-02-12 on the alpha channel. The mod is licensed under the MIT License and is not open source.

Use cases

Abandoned industrial scenes

Mesh, grate and flooring blocks suit ruined factories and decayed workshops built in a survival world.

Who it’s for: Builders who want rotten, industrial interiors and exteriors on Minecraft 1.20.1, on Fabric or Forge, with the server and players both running the mod.

Questions

Does Blight need to be installed on both sides?

Yes. A server running it needs every connecting player to have it too.

Which loaders does Blight support?

Blight is published for Fabric and Forge, and both builds target Minecraft 1.20.1 only.

Is Blight finished?

No. The author describes the mod as a work in progress made with MCreator, and it was rewritten from scratch with manual scripting, so bugs are expected.
