Better Villages
With Better Villages installed on a server, the vanilla villages of the Plains, Snow, Savanna, Desert and Taiga biomes gain improved structures that feel more lived-in to explore.
What it does
The mod reworks the village structures that the game already generates, rather than adding new villages on top of them. Each of the five biome villages is revised, and the changes aim to make the settlements feel more active and worth walking through. The mod is a server-side only mod, so players join without installing it, while the server owner must run it.
Better Villages requires Library Ferret, which has to be installed alongside it on the server. It is published for Fabric, Forge and NeoForge across 29 release versions, 1.16.5 – 26.2, and the latest files target 26.2. The code is not open source, and the mod is released under All rights reserved. Public issue tracking is available for bug reports.
Key features
Plains village overhaul
The plains village structure is revised so its buildings and layout differ from the unchanged vanilla version.
Snow and taiga villages
Snow and taiga villages receive their own structural changes, keeping each biome's settlements distinct.
Savanna and desert villages
Savanna and desert villages are reworked as well, covering all five biome villages the mod handles.
Compatibility notes
The author states that some mods may need their own compatibility pack for full results, and that most other mods should work.

Who it’s for: Server owners and survival players who want revised village structures in the five supported biomes, with Library Ferret installed alongside.
How it compares
Villages Revamped runs on Fabric, Forge and NeoForge for 1.21 – 26.3, and only the server needs it, while the client may add it. Vanilla Structure Update shares those loaders, versions and environment. Lios Overhauled Villages is server-side only, released under All rights reserved, with loaders Fabric, Forge and NeoForge for 1.18.2 – 26.3, which is a wider range than Better Villages covers in its newest builds.
