Better Link Party Claim

by tier940

Better Link Party Claim lets a party protect chunks on a Forge 1.12.2 server, with roles, trust levels and a full-screen chunk map.

ForgeClient and serverMIT LicenseOpen source1.12.2

What it does

Chunk claiming is server-authoritative and organized by party: a player claims land for a party, and other parties are kept out according to the trust level set for each protected action. Permissions are split into three roles (Owner, Admin, Moderator and Member) and five trust levels (None, Ally, Member, Moderator and Owner), so a server can decide who may build, interact or attack in claimed land. Single-player worlds create one default party automatically, so claiming works without setup. Mods that act as fake players, such as BuildCraft and EnderIO, use a trust level of their own, which keeps automation under the same rules as players.

The chunk map opens full-screen with the M key and renders terrain asynchronously, with party colors overlaid on the claimed chunks. From the map, drag selection lets a player claim, unclaim or force-load a group of chunks in one operation, and one-click buttons unclaim or unload a chunk. The mod is licensed under the MIT License and is open source, with its source code and issue tracker public. Installation needs MixinBooter and ModularUI, which must be present on both the server and every player's client. JourneyMap is optional and adds map integration, and BetterQuesting integration is also optional.

Key features

  1. Party-based chunk claims

Chunks are claimed for a party, and the server checks each action against that party's roles and trust levels.

  2. Per-action protection

Trust levels can be set separately for block edit, block interact, attack, entity interaction and item use.

  3. Full-screen chunk map

The M key opens a map that draws terrain in the background and colors each party's claimed chunks.

  4. Bulk selection tools

Drag selection covers claim, unclaim and force-load operations over many chunks, and single chunks can be unclaimed or unloaded with one click.

  5. Translations

English and Japanese translations are included.

Questions

Does Better Link Party Claim need MixinBooter and ModularUI?

Yes. MixinBooter and ModularUI are required dependencies, so both must be installed alongside the mod on Forge 1.12.2.

Does Better Link Party Claim have to be installed on both sides?

Yes. The server and every player need the mod installed.

Does a single-player world need a party set up before claiming?

No. Single-player creates one default party automatically, so chunks can be claimed without extra setup.

Is JourneyMap required for the chunk map?

No. JourneyMap is an optional dependency that adds map integration; the chunk map works without it.
