BearMetal Carts

by BearMetal

BearMetal Carts is a Fabric server mod that adds chunk loading, tiered minecarts and new furnace cart behavior to the vanilla minecart system.

FabricServer required, client optionalGNU General Public License v3.0 onlyOpen source26.2 – 26.3

What it does

The mod aims to finish the experimental minecart changes in an accessible way. Moving minecarts submit chunk loading tickets for the nearest chunks they traverse, lasting two seconds. A minecart that comes to a stop loads the 3x3 chunk area centered on its chunk, and the load lasts 30 seconds. Instead of stopping when they collide, minecarts keep moving forward together at a slower speed.

Furnace minecarts can push other minecarts, up to a chain limit, before the system starts collapsing under its own resistance; the author describes this part as unstable for now. Furnace carts hold one spare coal or charcoal and use it automatically when their fuel runs out. Fuel is supplied through a hopper: a hopper feeding a parked furnace cart resumes its movement in the last heading. If a cart is placed below a fuel hopper, the hopper uses the direction it faces instead.

The mod adds recipes for additional minecart tiers, which are either faster or slower than the standard minecart and have a higher mass. The tiers reach every minecart type except the command block and spawner variants. One command, bmc, controls the attributes of minecarts, and only its maxspeed option applies. BearMetal Carts requires Fabric API. It is open source under the GNU General Public License v3.0 only, and the latest Fabric file is 1.2.0 for 26.3.

Key features

  1. Minecart chunk loading

Moving carts load nearby chunks for two seconds, and stopped carts load a 3x3 chunk area for 30 seconds.

  2. Cart tiers

Added recipes craft faster or slower minecart tiers with higher mass than the standard minecart.

  3. Furnace cart fueling

Furnace carts keep a spare coal or charcoal and take fuel from a hopper above them to resume their last heading.

  4. Gamerule controls

Three gamerules set whether chunk loading is allowed and how long mobile and station carts load chunks.
