Basic Skyblock

by PyjamaMole

Basic Skyblock generates a vanilla skyblock world, starting each player on a single island in the void, and is a server-side world generation mod for Fabric and Quilt.

What it does

Installed on a server, the mod replaces ordinary terrain with a bare island in an empty sky. Newly generated chunks are cleared automatically, and structures are removed after they are placed, so the world keeps the minimal start the author intended. Bounding boxes record where a structure stood before it was removed, so its original position can be recovered. The mod's author describes it as a bare minimum vanilla skyblock.

Converting an existing world is possible, but the process has several steps. Pre-1.18 chunks need to be handled differently from post-1.18 chunks, and the author recommends backing up the world beforehand. Remove the mod, convert the world, and then add the mod again. Updating between post-1.18 versions is reported as fine, though entities can be affected. A tutorial covering the 1.18 steps is included, and the author notes that trouble with part installation was solved by breaking the process into steps.

Basic Skyblock runs on Fabric and Quilt, is server-side only, and is released under the MIT License, so it is open source. Files are published for 30 release versions, 1.18.1 – 26.3, with 4.0-entity for 26.3 as the latest Fabric and Quilt file from 2026-04-02. Snapshot builds are published as well.

Key features

  1. Bare vanilla island

Generation produces a single island with nothing else in the void, the classic skyblock start.

  2. Automatic chunk clearing

Newly generated chunks and structures are removed, so only the intended island remains.

  3. Map seed reference

A skyblock 2.1 map with a seed is available for players who want to find the original recreation.

  4. Entity handling

Entities in older chunks are removed during conversion, and a fall into the void is supported.
