Basically Util Commands

by BasicallyFraud

Basically Util Commands is a server-side Fabric and Quilt mod that adds utility commands for mapmakers, with storage expressions, entity positioning and value mapping.

FabricQuiltServer-side onlyMIT LicenseOpen source1.20 – 26.3

What it does

The mod adds a set of commands aimed at mapmakers and command block builders. Several of them work with data storages, so expressions can read and write values, and strings can be manipulated through storages. Commands can use the position, rotation and context of the executor, including px, py, pz, rx, ry and rz, which lets a function refer to its own location without hard-coded coordinates.

Other additions cover positioning and movement: a command can move forward a set number of times, summon a marker entity tagged BUC.raycast, and place an entity over the closest ground, over the closest ground below, over the closest view position or over the closest viewed entity. A full list of functions and variables is included, along with map-style value conversion and an Euler dot product for angles between two pitch and yaw pairs.

Because the mod runs on the server, only the server needs to install it and players join without installing anything. It is published for Fabric and Quilt, and also lists Paper, Spigot, Bukkit and Purpur as server platforms. Files target game versions 1.20 – 26.3 across 24 release versions. The code is released under the MIT License and is open source.

Key features

  1. Storage expressions

Expressions can read and write data storages, and strings can be manipulated through the same storages.

  2. Context-aware positioning

Commands use the executor's position and rotation, so functions can refer to their own coordinates and facing.

  3. Ground and view placement

Entities can be positioned over the closest ground, the ground below it, the closest view position, or the closest viewed entity.

  4. Value mapping and angles

A map function rescales a value between input and output ranges, and an Euler dot product command measures angles between two pitch and yaw pairs.
