Auto Workstations

by BillBodkin

With Auto Workstations, the vanilla crafting table, enchanting table, brewing stand and smithing table gain automated versions that hoppers can feed and empty.

FabricClient and serverMIT LicenseOpen source1.18.2 – 1.21.4

What it does

Auto Workstations adds automated versions of many vanilla workstations, including the crafting table, enchanting table, brewing stand and smithing table. Hoppers attached to these blocks can supply ingredients and collect outputs, which allows complete automation of a workstation chain. Auto Furnaces are covered too, and the author notes that some furnace automation exists already but this mod extends it to XP collection.

The automated enchanting and anvil blocks store experience the way the player's XP bar does, with a level and a fill that takes longer for each step. Empty glass bottles inserted into the Auto Enchanting Table are filled with XP, and bottles of enchanting inserted there are emptied back into empty glass bottles. The Auto Furnace can collect nearby XP orbs and bottle them up, and the iron and gold versions differ in range and speed, with the gold version reaching farther and working faster.

The mod is published for Fabric only, across 14 release versions covering 1.18.2 – 1.21.4. Every player and the server need a copy of the mod. The code is open source under the MIT License, and the source code and issue tracker are public. Other automated workstations are planned, according to the author.

Key features

  1. Automated crafting table

A crafting table that accepts input from hoppers and passes results on, so crafting runs without a player present.

  2. Experience storage blocks

Auto Enchanting Tables and Auto Anvils store XP in a bar that fills one level at a time, and the fill takes longer for higher levels.

  3. XP bottling

Empty glass bottles inserted into the enchanting block are filled with XP, and enchanting bottles are emptied back to glass bottles.

  4. Iron and gold versions

Auto Furnace and the other blocks come in iron and gold tiers, where the gold tier has a larger collection range and works faster.
